Aging Well in October
Welcome to our October blog post — we’re so glad you’ve joined us!
Autumn has a way of nudging us to pause, breathe a little deeper, and take stock of what matters most. The cooler air and colorful changes around us can be a gentle reminder to care for both body and mind. This month, we’re continuing to share ideas that support your well-being and encourage you to stay strong, balanced, and resilient. And if you know someone who could use a little encouragement as they care for those they love, we’d love for you to pass this along.
As a caregiver, it’s easy to put your own needs last. But your health, strength, and peace of mind matter just as much as the care you give. This month, we’re sharing simple ways to nourish yourself — with an easy recipe, a gentle stretch, and reminders that you deserve care, too.
October is a special month of recognition, shining a light on both National Alzheimer’s Disease Awareness Month and National Care at Home Month. It’s a time to honor not only those living with Alzheimer’s or dementia, but also the incredible caregivers who provide love and care right in their own homes.
Caring for a Loved One at Home
Caring for someone at home can be both rewarding and overwhelming. You may feel deep gratitude for the time you share with your loved one, but also exhaustion from the daily responsibilities that never seem to pause. This month is about recognizing that you matter, too.
Caring for Yourself While You Care for Others
When you’re a caregiver, it’s easy to put yourself last. But taking even small steps to nurture your own health makes you stronger and better able to support your loved one. Here are a few gentle reminders:
You Are Not Alone
This October, we pause to honor the strength, patience, and love it takes to care for someone at home. Remember—caring for yourself is part of caring for your loved one. Your well-being matters, and your efforts make an incredible difference every single day. Aging Well is here for you as a resource and we are happy to help!
Here is a quick and easy meal for when you don't have time to do a lot of prep work!
3-Ingredient Skillet Cheesy Chicken & Rice

1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or whatever’s on hand)
Directions:
Warm a skillet over medium heat.
Add cooked rice and chicken, stirring until heated through.
Sprinkle cheese on top, cover with a lid for a few minutes until melted.
That's it!! Enjoy!
